Neck now feeling much better after a few days of rest. My current guess is that poor form in my overhead press resulted in the pain. As the overhead press is by far the slowest lift to improve, I am changing my approach on that lift to focus on volume for a bit before returning to a focus on increasing the max 5x5 weight. inspiration
Squats
Points to consider
- Hamstrings felt sore after 185lb lifts so I dropped back to 165lb for this session. intended to linearly progress up to 190lb over the next few workouts.
- I think that my elbows are coming closer to being under the bar now as opposed to flaring back quite far.
Overhead press
Points to consider
- Aimed for 5 sets of 10 @ 65lb . Did 6 sets and a total of 51 reps. 10, 9, 9, 8, 8, 7
- Trying to focus on well timed hip movement, keep chin tucked and straight bar path
- Set 5 form and focus felt better than set 1, but I was starting to get fatigued
Deadlift

- Felt tough, but certainly not impossible
